Linde plc Reports Earnings Results for the Third Quarter and Nine Months Ended September 30, 2021

Linde plc reported earnings results for the third quarter and nine months ended September 30, 2021. For the third quarter, the company reported sales was USD 7,668 million compared to USD 6,855 million a year ago. Net income was USD 979 million compared to USD 700 million a year ago. Basic earnings per share from continuing operations was USD 1.9 compared to USD 1.33 a year ago. Diluted earnings per share from continuing operations was USD 1.88 compared to USD 1.32 a year ago. Basic earnings per share was USD 1.9 compared to USD 1.33 a year ago. Diluted earnings per share was USD 1.88 compared to USD 1.32 a year ago.
For the nine months, sales was USD 22,495 million compared to USD 19,971 million a year ago. Net income was USD 2,800 million compared to USD 1,731 million a year ago. Basic earnings per share from continuing operations was USD 5.39 compared to USD 3.28 a year ago. Diluted earnings per share from continuing operations was USD 5.34 compared to USD 3.25 a year ago. Basic earnings per share was USD 5.4 compared to USD 3.29 a year ago. Diluted earnings per share was USD 5.35 compared to USD 3.26 a year ago.
Linde plc is one of the world's leading engineering and industrial gas production groups. Net sales break down by activity as follows:
- production and sale of industrial gases (86.3%). Net sales break down by market between chemicals and energy (25%), manufacturing (19%), healthcare (16%), metals and mining (14%), food and beverage (10%), electronics (9%) and other (7%);
- surface engineering services (8.3%);
- other (5.4%).
Net sales are distributed geographically as follows: the United Kingdom (5.9%), the United States (31.6%), Germany (11%), China (7.9%), Australia (4.1%), Brazil (3.5%) and other (36%).
