Magma® Design Automation Inc. (Nasdaq:LAVA), a provider of semiconductor design software, today announced that Magma's Anirudh Devgan has been awarded the prestigious Grade of Fellow by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Inc. (IEEE), a leading professional organization.

The IEEE Grade of Fellow, the highest membership status attainable, is conferred by IEEE's board of directors to engineers with an extraordinary record of accomplishments in any of the IEEE fields of interest. Dr. Devgan, vice president and general manager of product development for Magma's Custom Design Business Unit, was honored for his contributions to electrical analysis, modeling and IC simulation. He has published more than 70 technical papers and has 22 U.S. patents either issued or pending.

?I am honored to be elected IEEE Fellow,? Devgan said. ?I really enjoy working in electronic design automation because it provides a great combination of challenging research problems and critical real-world applications. I would also like to thank my colleagues and collaborators over the years for making it even more rewarding.?

?Anirudh has made significant contributions to a numbers of areas in the EDA industry, including circuit analysis and simulation, interconnect modeling and signal integrity, and most recently, statistical analysis and optimization,? said Dr. Jason Cong, a UCLA professor and IEEE Fellow who nominated Devgan for the honor. ?The breadth of his contributions and the novelty of the approaches have formed the basis of several successful IC design automation tools and products which have been utilized by many designers over the last decade. I am delighted to see that he received this well-deserved recognition as an IEEE Fellow.?
