MOTA-ENGIL INFORMS ABOUT THE SIGNING OF CONTRACTS IN AFRICA IN A TOTAL AMOUNT OF 650 MILLION EUROS
MOTA-ENGIL S.G.P.S., S.A. (MOTA-ENGIL) informs that one of its subsidiaries for the Africa region has signed a contract in Guinea-Conakry with Rio Tinto Iron Ore Atlantic Ltd. in the amount of circa of 300 million US dollars (circa of €280 million).
The above-mentioned contract is associated with the Simandou project, which is located in the southern region of Guinea, approximately 650 km from Conakry, and the works to be carried out by MOTA-ENGIL under it include the initial land movement for the establishment of accesses and for the future industrial facilities of a mine, as well as sedimentation basins, spillways and the implementation of erosion control measures. The project will start in September 2023 and will have an estimated duration of 30 months.
Additionally, in Nigeria, a consortium comprised by MOTA-ENGIL (49%) and AFC - Africa Finance Corporation (51%), signed with the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing two concession contracts for the highways "Lagos - Badagry - Seme" and "Shagamu - Benin" (connecting the city of Lagos to the centre and southwest of the country, as well as the city of Lagos to the border of Benin) with a length of 79 km and 258 km, respectively and with a duration of 25 years. The scope of the concession contracts provides for the conversion of two current roads into motorways, as well as the design, financing, construction / rehabilitation, operation, and maintenance. The initial investment will be circa of 260 million US dollars (circa of €240 million).
Finally, also in Africa, other smaller contracts have recently been awarded in Angola, Mozambique, Rwanda and Ivory Coast in a total amount of circa of €130 million.

With these awards, the GROUP continues to strengthen its order book on the African continent with relevant medium-term contracts, as well as to strengthen its presence in core markets and in the concessional area.
