Multi Commodity Exchange of India Limited reported earnings results for the third quarter and nine months ended December 31, 2023. For the third quarter, the company reported sales was INR 1,915.3 million compared to INR 1,435.7 million a year ago. Revenue was INR 2,092.6 million compared to INR 1,636.5 million a year ago. Net loss was INR 53.5 million compared to net income of INR 387.9 million a year ago. Basic loss per share from continuing operations was INR 1.05 compared to basic earnings per share from continuing operations of INR 7.62 a year ago. Diluted loss per share from continuing operations was INR 1.05 compared to diluted earnings per share from continuing operations of INR 7.62 a year ago.
For the nine months, sales was INR 5,024.1 million compared to INR 3,797.6 million a year ago. Revenue was INR 5,594.9 million compared to INR 4,273.4 million a year ago. Basic loss per share from continuing operations was INR 0.93 compared to basic earnings per share from continuing operations of INR 28.2 a year ago. Diluted loss per share from continuing operations was INR 0.93 compared to diluted earnings per share from continuing operations of INR 28.2 a year ago.
Multi Commodity Exchange of India Limited is a commodity derivatives exchange. The Company facilitates online trading of commodity futures and options, data feed subscription and membership. It offers a platform for trading in varied commodity derivative contracts across product segments: bullion, industrial metals, energy, agricultural commodities and indices. Its flagship index series, MCX iCOMDEX, is a series of real-time commodity futures price indices, which give information on market movements in key segments traded on the exchange. The MCX iCOMDEX series consists of a composite index, apart from three sectoral indices, such as the Base Metal index, the Bullion index and the Energy index, and nine single-commodity indices, such as Gold, Silver, Aluminum, Copper and Lead, among others.
