Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd. (hereinafter, "Murata") has decided to invest in a fund managed by Swiss venture capital firm Emerald Technology Ventures (headquartered in Zurich, Switzerland; hereinafter, "Emerald").
Emerald is a venture capital firm established in 2000 that focuses on companies addressing climate change and sustainability challenges. The portfolio of funds that Emerald has managed to date includes industrial innovations that contribute to solving social issues such as improving energy efficiency and reducing CO2 emissions.
The Murata Vision 2030 states that "Murata will innovate to create a virtuous cycle of social and economic value and contribute to the enrichment of society." In its Mid-term Direction 2024, Murata has set targets in four environmental areas: Amount of GHG emissions, renewable energy implementation rate, sustainable resource usage rate, and resource recycling rate.
Through the synergy between the investment in the fund managed by Emerald and Murata's accumulated technologies, the company aims to achieve its targets in the four environmental areas and create new businesses needed by the next generation.
