NATIONAL Express has seen no "material impact" from the global fuel shortages and petrol price rises.

The company is fully stocked for fuel through 2022 and 2023, while its UK passenger numbers in September have reached 76 percent of its pre-pandemic figures in 2019.

Ignacio Garat, group chief officer, said. "Our ongoing focus on cost management along with our longestablished procurement and fuel hedging programmes mean that we have seen no material impact from input cost inflation."

The company is reportedly exploring taking over rival service Stagecoach, which owns Megabus.
