New Century Resources Limited announced the recent commencement of 2021 drilling at the Century Zinc Mine in Queensland, initially targeting resource definition drilling of the historic high-grade Silver King deposit. Silver King Deposit Overview: The Silver King lead-zinc-silver deposit is 3km west of the existing Century processing plant, located on Mining Lease ML90045. It is one of the earliest identified deposits in the region, discovered in 1887, with small scale mining commencing soon after. Silver King was mined intermittently until 1961 via 15 shafts and associated underground workings to a depth of 60m. Estimated historical production is 3,149t of lead and 101,000oz of silver in high grade direct ship ore (DSO). Silver King mineralization consists of a series of moderately to steeply dipping quartz-galena-sphalerite siderite veins associated with a northeast trending dextral strike-slip fault. The fault crosses two units of the Lawn Hill Formation, namely the black carbonaceous shale and footwall to the original Big Zinc Deposit at Century, which overlies the Bulmung Sandstone. Mineralization occurs within the shale hosted breccias, anglesite and ceruscite are present in the near surface oxidised zone. The deposit shows evidence of extensive shearing and veining before, during and post mineralization. Resource Definition Drilling: Resource Definition drilling at Silver King will be completed in the upper section of the Deposit to a 20m x 20m spacing, with the objective of upgrading the known mineralisation to an Indicated or Measured confidence level. Drilling is scheduled for completion by April 2021, with an updated Mineral Resource estimate targeted by June 2021. Samples for detailed metallurgical test work and ore sorting assessment will also be collected. Silver King & East Fault Block Development Study: The Company has completed an optimisation study for the potential near-term development of Silver King and East Fault Block, building on several previous studies by both New Century and previous tenement owners. Based on the outcomes of this work, the Company sees strong potential in Silver King and East Fault Block, and has fast-tracked the approval of infill, geotechnical and metallurgical drilling, the results of which will be used to complete a Development Study to inform a final investment decision in third quarter of current year 2021. In addition, the Company is progressing South Block options assessment for longer-term inclusion into the Life of Mine feed. This announcement is approved for release by the Board of New Century Resources.
