German energy company Innogy SE announced that the company plans to release a total of 1.7 GW of onshore wind projects with the help of turbine manufacturer Nordex. The two parties have agreed a strategic partnership that will see Innogy optimise its project pipeline in Europe and the US and buy wind turbines for the specific projects exclusively from Nordex in the period 2019-2022. The alliance was agreed in October 2018 and has already resulted in the signing of a Safe Harbor agreement in the US for the supply of six N131/3900 turbines.

In addition to the existing US deal, Innogy plans to use mostly Nordex machines for the 126-MW Cassadaga and 40-MW Baron Winds projects in New York state. In 2018, the pair also emerged as a winner in Poland's first onshore auction with the 33-MW Zukowice project. Nordex expects to receive an order for this scheme in the second half of the year, subject to Innogy making an investment decision.
