Bank99 AG is in negotiations with ING Groep NV (ENXTAM:INGA) over the latter's retail banking business in Austria, which it is seeking to off-load by 2021. Österreichische Post AG (WBAG:POST), bank99's parent, confirmed the negotiations July 9. ING announced in March that it was reviewing strategic options for the business as part of a review of its broader retail footprint. The Austrian retail bank has been operating since 2003 and had about 550,000 customers being served by approximately 340 employees in 2020.

The bank is also planning to exit the retail market in France.
