MECHANICSVILLE, Va. (AP) _ Owens & Minor Inc. (OMI) on Monday reported third-quarter net income of $46.1 million.

The Mechanicsville, Virginia-based company said it had profit of 76 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, were 81 cents per share.

The results surpassed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of three analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 70 cents per share.

The medical supply distributor posted revenue of $2.19 billion in the period.

Owens & Minor expects full-year earnings in the range of $1.90 to $2 per share.

Owens & Minor shares have climbed fivefold since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Monday, shares hit $26.06, nearly quadrupling in the last 12 months.
