Munich/Cologne, 18 February 2016 - After leaving the Hochtief Group, the property management company Tectareal has streamlined its ICT environment: Instead of obtaining its application environment and network services from several providers as was previously the case, all services will in future be provided by the CANCOM Group. The result of the IT restructuring includes, among other things, a harmonised workstation environment, a German-speaking User Help Desk and flexibly scalable IT resources from the CANCOM BusinessCloud. The IT group operates the entire application environment, including the SAP, Office and CAD applications.

Streamlining the IT
'Having left the Hochtief Group, we wanted to become independent and more efficient in terms of IT,' says Sebastian Sasserath, Head of IT at Tectareal. 'The aim was to make the IT environment more user-friendly and to sort out the large number of service providers. The use of cloud resources really fitted the bill for us here as it enabled us to avoid high investment costs for setting up our own IT structures. The choice of the CANCOM subsidiary PIRONET as the general contractor for the entire ICT environment means that since the switchover we have had traceable Service Level Agreements both for the application environment and the storage services, and also for our cross-location network.' That is so important because a functioning IT environment for Tectareal is one of the most crucial instruments to enable the company to act on the market.

The approximately 450 employees can now contact PIRONET's German-speaking User Help Desk (UHD) if they have any questions relating to business applications, such as CAD applications, or to the Microsoft Office Suite. User support is also provided by the IT service provider's 24/7 Service Desk. Mr Sasserath comments: 'The fact that solely German-speaking support specialists who also have detailed knowledge of our application environment are available to our employees is an enormous advantage compared to the previous situation with a number of Support Centres spread all around the world.'

Focus on user-friendliness
To ensure that IT transfer is as fast and at the same time as stable as possible, Tectareal decided to retain its existing PC workstation environment, but to coordinate it by means of Desktop Management from the cloud. Ever since, the employees have had access to a cross-company app store via which applications can be rolled out centrally.
The new cross-location network architecture also benefits the users: Central access to applications and data from all seven Tectareal locations is now implemented considerably faster, as the bandwidth has been increased at least fivefold.
