POSCO DX : to expand smart integrated safety solution business

POSCO DX is attracting attention from related industries for achieving achievements such as minimizing safety accidents by actively distributing 'smart integrated safety solution' that efficiently manage safety at industrial sites.

POSCO DX applied its self-developed smart integrated safety solution to more than 120 various sites such as steel/construction/chemical/airport/power plants to prove its effectiveness, and announced that it is expanding to other sites. POSCO DX is expanding its solution supply to POSCO group companies such as POSCO, POSCO E&C, and POSCO Future M, which put safety first, as well as Korea East-West Power natural gas power plants and Green Cross EM construction sites from this year.

POSCO DX's smart integrated safety solution collects and analyzes data from all over the site through various sensors to monitor risk factors, and not only prevents safety accidents by disseminating the results to field workers, but also effectively responds to accidents that may occur.

AI-based video recognition technology is applied to monitor the access of unauthorized persons to dangerous areas and the wearing of safety protective equipment, and through linkage with smart CCTV, unstable abnormal behavior of workers and fires in the workplace can be detected and taken in advance. A throw-type IoT gas detection sensor checks harmful gases in confined spaces before work to ensure worker safety, and supports a safe working environment with real-time monitoring through wireless detectors attached to safety vests during work.

Since 2017, it has been applied to construction sites such as architecture, civil engineering, and plant of POSCO E&C, contributing to making POSCO E&C the only one of the top 10 domestic construction companies to achieve zero serious accidents last year. POSCO E&C actively utilizes cutting-edge smart technologies such as AI, robots, IoT, and VR in the field, and the smart phones of site managers are equipped with a 'smart integrated safety solution'. Through this, construction site information collected through cameras, drones, CCTVs, sensors by location, etc. can be integrated and monitored in real time, and immediate safety measures such as evacuation orders can be issued to workers in emergency situations where the risk of accidents is high or accidents occur.

An official from POSCO E&C said, "POSCO E&C has become an accident-free site by putting safety first as the management policy, nurturing safety management personnel, raising safety awareness of field workers and continuously improving the environment in which they can work safely, as well as smart safety technology and systems. It is thanks to the active introduction and use of it," he said.

POSCO DX, in cooperation with POSCO E&C, developed safety technologies such as safety support for concrete pouring. This year, a video recognition-based safety monitoring system for openings is also being developed.
