'Investment funds are still the main instrument for channelling savings to the real estate sector, despite the rise of some alternative financial instruments', said Andrea Cornetti, General Manager of Prelios SGR, at the meeting organised by Scenari Immobiliari, 'Real estate funds in Italy and abroad', which was held on 13 June 2018 in Milan.

'The presence of this instrument on the market offers investors the possibility of benefits in terms of risk diversification and constant returns, as well as flexibility and efficiency in managing assets. Nonetheless, the asset management market is in a mature period and therefore operators must differentiate and renew their offer. The real estate fund can be considered the ideal instrument for major redevelopment and regeneration projects, as the recent experience of the PAI Fund taught us in realising the complex urban regeneration project at the former fruit and vegetable market in Bologna, building FICO Eataly World Bologna, which was a prize-winner during the last edition of the MIPIM Awards. Prelios SGR intends to continue to specialise in the realisation of non-traditional investments, also through the use of the real estate fund. Prelios SGR's business is therefore continuing, in particular, in the structuring of innovative investments in sectors such as scientific/educational entertainment, residences for universities and schools, so that our investors can combine achieving their corporate missions with a sustainable risk profile/return.'
