MUNICH (dpa-AFX) - The Chairman of the Supervisory Board of media group ProSiebenSat.1 is pushing for a rapid reorganization with a focus on the core business of television and streaming. "A conglomerate that is active in many areas has never worked, especially not in the media business," Andreas Wiele told the "Süddeutsche Zeitung" (Wednesday). For some time now, ProSiebenSat.1 has been concentrating on its core entertainment business, something that the major Italian shareholder Media for Europe (MFE) around the Berlusconi family has repeatedly advocated. Only recently, there have been some changes to the Group's Management Board.

Markus Breitenecker will join the executive board of the company, which is listed in the small-cap segment SDax, on April 1, the company announced at the beginning of the week. The 55-year-old currently heads ProSiebenSat.1 PULS4, the Austrian TV division. The Austrian media manager has been head of business there since 1998. Together with ProSiebenSat.1 CEO Bert Habets, Breitenecker will be responsible for the entertainment division. His focus will be on the areas of streaming and digital platforms. Breitenecker will also manage the country activities in Switzerland and Austria.

As Wiele told the "Süddeutsche Zeitung", the digital activities are now to be sold off soon. "However, you can assume that we will be making intensive sales efforts this year." The start will be made with the areas "that are performing best and are the most attractive." The Group includes many digital companies, such as Flaconi, Parship, Billiger-Mietwagen.de, Jochen Schweizer Mydays and Verivox. The proceeds will then be used to reduce debt and invest in the program./mis/rin/men
