• Curriculum Vitae and Education

Dr. Sofyan A. Djalil was born in Aceh, 23 September 1953, married and had three children. Obtained a Ph.D degree in Capital Market Law and Policy from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy - Tufts University (1993) after completing Master of Arts in Law and Diplomacy (MALD, 1991) and Master of Arts (MA) in Public Policy from the same University in 1989. Obtained a Bachelor of Law degree from the University of Indonesia (1984). Started his career as a Researcher/Fellow at the Center for Policy and Implementations Studies (CPIS) from 1984 - 1995 and Lecturer at the University of Indonesia (UI) and other universities (1994 - 1998). Mr. Dr. Sofyan A. Djalil has lot of experiences in public and private sectors.

• Experience in the Public Sector

Dr. Sofyan A. Djalil has experience serving as Indonesian Cabinet Minister for 13 years under the leadership of two Presidents. Under President Jokowi served as Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/Head of the National Land Agency (2016 - June 2022). Previously, he served as Minister of National Development Planning/Head of Bappenas (2015- 2016) and Coordinating Minister for the Economy (2014-2015). During President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono's first term, he served as Minister of Communication and Information Technology (2004-2007) and Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (2007-2009). In addition, he also served as Chair of the Strategic Study Team providing input to the Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, Budiono (2010-2014) and was also Assistant to the Minister of State for State- Owned Enterprises (1998-2000).

• Experience in the Private Sector

In terms of corporate experience, Dr Sofyan A. Djalil also has extensive track record. He has served as President Commissioner, Commissioner and Advisor in various companies, both State-Owned Enterprises, National Companies and Multinational Companies.

Previously served as President Commissioner of PT Berau Coal Energy (BCE), PT Indonesia Infrastructure Finance (IIF), PT Pacific Satelit Nusantara (PSN), PT Pembangunan Pelabuhan Indonesia, PT Socfin Indonesia and PT Pupuk Iskandar Muda. As Member of the Board of Commissioners of: PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN), PT Pelabuhan Indonesia III; PT Kimia Farma Tbk; and PT Trimegah Sekuritas Tbk. Besides being an Advisor for Procter and Gamble (Indonesia); Bain and Company (Indonesia) and Prudential Insurance (Indonesia).

Previously served as Vice President of Research and Development at the Jakarta Stock Exchange (1998), Community Relations Consultant for Chevron Indonesia (2000), and Good Corporate Governance (GCG) Consultant who served as advisor to several well-known companies in Indonesia (2000-2004).

• Current job

Currently Dr Sofyan A. Djalil serves as CEO of the Indonesia Business Council (IBC) and President Commissioner in several companies, including: PT Indika Nature, PT Pembangunan Jaya Ancol Tbk, and the Steering Committee of Indonesian Palm Oil Strategic Studies (IPOSS).

Dr Sofyan A. Djalil is also active in philanthropic activities and community services. Among other things, establishing and acting as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Indonesia Heritage Foundation (IHF - ihf.or.id) which is dedicated to the development and implementation of Character-Based Holistic Education (PHBK). He is also a member of the Board of Trustees of the Indonesian Young Leaders Foundation (yli.or.id).
