PALEMBANG - Director (Finance & HR Function) of PT Semen Baturaja Tbk (SMBR) as a subsidiary of PT Semen Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (SIG), Rahmat Hidayat was a resource person at the Prospective Investor Forum event organized by the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) South Sumatra.

The activity entitled "PDKT: An Approach with the slogan Sturdy & Hold Lamo SMBR" was held at the Representative Office of the Indonesia Stock Exchange, South Sumatra, Palembang City on Thursday (29/2). Attended by 51 participants from various groups including students and business people in Palembang City. The event was opened by Hari Mulyono as Head of the South Sumatra Indonesia Stock Exchange Representative Office.

On this occasion, Rahmat Hidayat explained the business opportunities presented by SMBR including business performance, ESG (Environment, Social and Government) performance and achievements. He explained that SMBR had shown significant growth after joining SIG in 2022.

"We felt a big positive impact after joining SIG because it was supported by consolidated supply chain management. We can see from production performance in 2023, slag volume grew 12.7 percent compared to the previous year. Then the volume of cement production also grew by 7.5 percent. "Then sales performance, cement sales volume continues to grow by 7.6 percent, this is in line with the synergy of the logistics network within the group which opens up opportunities for SMBR to increase factory utility," he said.

In terms of market share, Rahmat said that SMBR had succeeded in maintaining its market share in the South Sumatra region at 33%. "We are still the market leader, including in the main markets, namely South Sumatra and Lampung Provinces," he stressed.

In terms of financial performance, SMBR recorded financial performance that has continued to grow and be solid in the last three years. "Until 2023, there will be an increase in revenue driven by growth in cement sales volume and contribution from sales of derivative products such as white clay so that SMBR's net profit continues to increase every year. "This has a positive impact on EBITDA which continues to grow," said Rahmat in his presentation.

He continued, he said that SMBR also has a derivative product, namely white clay as a raw material for making NPK (Nitrogen, Phosphate, Potassium) fertilizer, which is one of SMBR's business strategies. This white clay is produced from research and development carried out by the SMBR Team and has a patent. "Thank God, the white clay product that we produce has a patent issued by the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, we are also the first cement industry in Indonesia to successfully produce white clay," said Rahmat.

Apart from that, in his presentation he also explained ESG performance as part of company sustainability. From an environmental perspective, SMBR has succeeded in reducing carbon emissions thanks to the use of alternative fuels through waste management as a substitute for coal.

"We collaborate with waste producing partners, from that waste we manage and use it to make alternative fuel. This is also part of operational efficiency which produces added value for SMBR and of course environmental preservation. "Then we also won Green PROPER, this award is difficult to get, but we succeeded, meaning we managed the environment well," said Rahmat.

In terms of social and environmental responsibility programs, SMBR carries out several programs, including Rumah BUMN Baturaja and ecosystem management in used land areas by managing the silviculture system to become a habitat for cultivating trigona bee colonies. "We help MSMEs in Baturaja through Rumah BUMN Baturaja, especially as one of our MSMEs has implemented environmental conservation through Paying for Coffee with Trash in collaboration with the OKU Regency Environmental Service."

In the closing session of the event, Rahmat reminded again that fundamentally, SMBR's production and finances continue to grow and the development of mining land for raw materials is strengthened by joining SMBR to SIG, so business opportunities are increasingly wider. "Now, SMBR will not only focus on the cement industry, but become a provider of building materials solutions because of the support from SIG which has around 42 companies, ranging from subsidiaries to great-grandchildren in various industries, this provides an opportunity for SMBR to spread its wings business in the future," concluded Rahmat.
