PT XL Axiata Tbk : XL Axiata Employees Build Clean Water Facilities in Brebes

Throughout this year, MTXL Axiata has proven its commitment by building clean water facilities in five areas, namely Banyuasin Regency in South Sumatra, Makassar City in South Sulawesi, Dairi Regency and Sidikalang Regency in North Sumatra, and finally Brebes Regency in Central Java.

Brebes, 27 December 2023.At the end of this year, employees of PT XL Axiata Tbk (XL Axiata) through Majelis Taklim XL Axiata (MTXL Axiata) once again inaugurated a clean water facility project in Brebes Regency, Saturday (16/12). This facility is ready for use, located at Baitul Rohman Mosque, Kertasari Hamlet, Banjarharjo, Brebes, Central Java. Present at the inauguration were several MTXL Axiata central administrators and local community leaders.

Chairman of Majelis Taklim XL Axiata Centra, Yanuar Tirta Kumaya said, "Thank God, another clean water facility has been completed in Brebes, Central Java. Of course, this is for the benefit of the village community and its surroundings. Thank you to all parties who have helped realise the construction of the last clean water facility project this year. It is a matter of pride for XL Axiata management and employees to be able to directly build public facilities that are urgently needed by the community in Kertasari Hamlet, Brebes."

The construction of clean water facilities has passed the survey and assessment stage. Of course, by considering the condition of the area and the people who need clean water. So far, Kertasari Hamlet only relies on one water source from the mountains, and even then it is often constrained by not getting clean water when the dry season arrives. This area is fairly difficult to find clean water sources because of the hilly texture of the land. The livelihoods and conditions of the people in this hamlet are dominated by farmers, labourers, traders and the elderly.

Throughout this year, MTXL Axiata has proven its commitment by building clean water facilities in five areas, namely Banyuasin Regency in South Sumatra, Makassar City in South Sulawesi, Dairi Regency and Sidikalang Regency in North Sumatra, and finally Brebes Regency in Central Java. God willing, a similar clean water facility development program will be built again next year with a target of 1 point in each province. This development comes from zakat and infaq funds from XL Axiata management and employees. XL Axiata is committed to continue increasing its contribution to the community as a form of concern through programmes like this, Yanuar further explained.

MTXL Axiata collaborated with Inisiatif Zakat Infonesia (IZI) for a clean water facility development project in the form of boreholes, pipelines, water tank masts and clean water reservoirs. This clean water facility in Kertasari Village has long been expected by the local community. In this village, there are 70 households with a total of around 200 people who can already use clean water for worship, bathing and washing clothes. The construction of clean water in Kertasari Hamlet, Brebes lasted for 2 weeks. It started on 30 October 2023 and finished on 10 November 2023.

The clean water facility that was built has used water source detection technology and drilling machines. The benefits are easier to detect the location of water sources for drilling and minimise drilling point errors. In addition, it is also equipped with filtering technology that can provide clean water that is suitable for various daily needs.

With the help of this clean water facility, the community is facilitated in getting clean water because of the pipeline that is directly channelled to the residents' homes, so there is no need to queue to collect clean water for worship and daily needs.

Just like the construction in other areas, the funds for the construction of clean water facilities in Kertasari Hamlet, Brebes are zakat and infaq funds from XL Axiata management and employees managed by Majelis Ta'lim XL Axiata to be distributed to people who are entitled to receive. MTXL Axiata strives to continue to spread kindness to establish friendship with various community groups and various regions.
