Rabigh Refining and Petrochemical Company reported earnings results for the year ended December 31, 2016. For the year, the company reported net profit of SAR 37 million compared to net loss of SAR 759 million a year ago. Earnings per share were SAR 0.04 compared to loss per share of SAR 0.87 a year ago. Operational profit was SAR 109 million compared to operational loss of SAR 760 million a year ago. The reasons for the net profit in 2016 are because sales and production quantity increased after start-up from the major T&I performed in fourth quarter of 2015. In addition, feedstock price increase positively impacted inventory valuation. This was partially offset by narrowed margin for both refined products and petrochemicals in 2016.
