The Otway Basin is an explored basin along the southern margin of mainland Australia. The Otway Basin includes petroleum exploration license (PEL) 154 and PEL 155. The PEL 154 covers an area of over 300 square kilometers. The PEL covers an area of approximately 226 square kilometers. The Aitape Basin includes petroleum prospecting licenses (PPL) 549 and PPL 391. The PPL 549 covers an area of over 4,980 square kilometers. The PPL 391 license area consists of the Matapau oil seeps and shallow wells.
