SEATTLE (AP) _ RealNetworks Inc. (RNWK) on Wednesday reported a loss of $6.4 million in its fourth quarter.

The Seattle-based company said it had a loss of 17 cents per share.

The software and service provider for digital entertainment companies posted revenue of $43.4 million in the period.

For the year, the company reported that its loss narrowed to $20 million, or 53 cents per share. Revenue was reported as $172.1 million.

For the current quarter ending in April, RealNetworks said it expects revenue in the range of $40 million to $43 million.

In the final minutes of trading on Wednesday, the company's shares hit $1.11. A year ago, they were trading at $2.81.
