Reef Casino Trust advised the Reef Hotel Casino in Cairns reopened operations at 5 pm on 11 August 2021. This follows the Queensland Government's announcement to lift the 3-day COVID-19 snap lockdown for the Cairns Regional Council and Yarrabah Aboriginal Shire Council. The Reef Hotel Casino continues to operate with a COVID Safe Plan approved by Queensland Health and under applicable directives issued by Queensland Health.
