ROSCOSMOS: Alexander Ivanov appointed as the acting head of the organization August 24, 2015

On August 20, 2015, RF Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev signed the RF Government order to appoint the first deputy head of the Federal Space Agency Alexander IVANOV as the acting head of ROSKOSMOS.

Igor KOMAROV who had previously held the position of the head of ROSKOSMOS, by the decree of the RF President issued on August 5, 2015 was appointed Director General of the State Corporation for space activities ROSKOSMOS.

Alexander Nikolaevich IVANOV was born on February 12, 1961. He graduated in 1984 from the Leningrad Aviation Instrumentation Engineering Institute, and in 1999 from the Peter the Great Military Academy of Strategic Missile Forces. 1984 through 2011 he served in various positions in the USSR and RF armed forces. Since 2011 he was the head of the Directorate for providing spacecraft with launch vehicles, since 2012 he was deputy general director for space systems operation at Academician M.F. Reshetnev Information Satellite Systems JSC. Candidate of Military Sciences. By the Order of the RF Government dated December 12, 2013 he was appointed First Deputy Head of ROSKOSMOS.


Federal Space Agency (ROSKOSMOS): federal executive agency of the Russian Federation. Roskosmos assures implementation of the Government policies in the field of space activities and provides for them a legal and regulatory framework, as well as places orders for the development, production and delivery of space hardware and space infrastructure facilities. Its functions also include development of international cooperation in space, as well as creating conditions for using results of space activities for social and economic development of Russia.
