VILNIUS, March 13 (LETA--BNS) - Andris Vilcmeiers has been appointed to lead Maxima Grupe (Maxima Group), the largest retailer in the Baltic states, which is part of Vilniaus Prekyba owned by Nerijus Numa, the group said.

He will replace Jolanta Bivainyte who will become CEO of Maxima LT, replacing Kristina Meide who has left the group.

"The structural changes are a part of a larger plan to ensure sustainable further growth of MAXIMA GRUPe and bring more added value to customers and employees during this challenging period," the group said in a statement.

Vilcmeiers has served as the CEO and Chairman of the Board of Maxima Latvija for more than four years, becomes the new CEO of Maxima Grupe. He will also be appointed to lead Franmax, the subsidiary of Maxima Grupe.

Prior to Maxima Latvija, Vicmeiers led poultry farm Kekava and held various leadership positions at Venstpils Nafta, Latvian Shipping Company and other companies.

Maxima Grupe operates retail chains operating under the names of Maxima in the Baltic countries, Stokrotka in Poland and T-Market in Bulgaria, and the Baltic online food shop Barbora.

Its consolidate revenue rose 23.9 percent to 1.9 billion euros in the first half of 2019, compared to the same period a year ago.
