Seiko PMC Corporation (TSE:4963) agreed to acquire 90% stake in chemicals business from Kohjin Film & Chemicals Co., Ltd. for ¥1.4 billion in cash on November 29, 2013. The chemicals business reported sales of ¥3 billion, total assets of ¥3.6 billion and net assets of ¥2.3 billion for the year ended March 31, 2013. The transaction is expected to close on April 1, 2014.

The Printing Ink and Recording Material Resin segment is involved in the manufacture and sale of printing ink resins and recording material resins. The Chemicals segment is involved in the manufacture and sale of functional monomers. The Company's main products include chemicals for papermaking such as moisture-proof coating agents, microbial preparations, creping agents, resins such as rosin-modified phenolic resins, styrene acrylic resins, as well as cellulose nanofiber (CNF) compounded resins STARCEL.
