To reduce environmental burdens in all our business processes such as development, production, sales, and services, as well as in the products, comply with environment-related laws and regulations, and meet the corporate social responsibility by bringing safe, high-quality and attractive products to markets around the world, we established the 'Green Procurement Guidelines' in February 2008. Since then, we have promoted green procurement with the understanding and cooperation of our suppliers.
With an increasing number of laws and regulations requiring the management of information about chemical substances, we are now in an era when it is absolutely necessary to share information across the supply chain, instead of individual companies analyzing and managing such information on their own.
Last year, to meet the needs of this era, we became a member of the Joint Article Management Promotion-consortium (JAMP), a body established in September 2006 with the primary goal of cross-industrial activity promotion. In order to respond to chemical substance management regulations, we have continued to drive the introduction of the concept and tools for appropriate information transmission in supply chains-proposed by the JAMP, ever since we revised the Green Procurement Guidelines (SKGP9th Edition) last year.
In order to reduce environmental burdens of products, it is crucial to procure materials and parts with lower environmental impact. To promote environment-conscious material procurement activities, we count on our suppliers' continued cooperation in achieving appropriate green procurement.
