SF Urban Properties Ltd (SFUP) attaches great importance to the increased use of renewable energy sources and energy-efficient buildings.

SFUP recognises the urgency of the negative effects of climate change and its social responsibility to contribute to climate protection by reducing energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions. SFUP fulfils its social responsibility, actively prepares for legal changes and conducts targeted risk and transformation management with regard to greenhouse gas emissions and energy in order to achieve the Federal Council's 2030 and 2050 climate targets. To ensure continuous optimisation, SFUP works with a specialist partner to analyse and monitor greenhouse gas emissions on an annual basis and derive appropriate measures for improvement. In a sustainability cockpit, the achievement of the federal government's targets is mapped by means of energy and CO2 reduction paths up to 2050 and the associated financial costs are also calculated. This enables risks and opportunities to be recognised at an early stage and the necessary measures to be introduced.

In order to realise the climate targets, SFUP is aiming for very good energy performance of the real estate investments, i.e. a significant improvement in energy efficiency and increasing use of renewable energy sources. The following goals, among others, are being pursued:

  • Reduction of energy consumption and the reduction of greenhouse gases for heat (indoor climate and hot water) during operation - SFUP is focussing on systematically reducing the energy requirements of its properties over the next 30 years by renewing building shells, replacing heating systems and using renewable energy sources.

For the further development of the rolling mill site in the portfolio of SF Urban Properties AG, the existing groundwater licence was also applied for and granted for the medium term. Until now, the groundwater has been used for cooling industrial processes. SFUP has now succeeded in extending the licence so that the groundwater can be used for a sustainable, energy-efficient and CO2-neutral heating and cooling supply for housing and services.
