Sinclair Broadcast Group, Inc. : Sinclair Names Rob Weisbord Head Of A Newly-Created Digital Interactive Business Unit

BALTIMORE, Jan. 29, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Sinclair Broadcast Group, Inc. (Nasdaq: SBGI) announced that Rob Weisbord has been named head of a newly-created Digital Interactive Business Unit. Mr. Weisbord will report into David Smith, President and Chief Executive Officer, and David Amy, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, of Sinclair. Mr. Weisbord will be responsible for all web/mobile app/social media creation, interaction of the unit with our news and television station platforms, revenue generation, and exploring strategic partnerships or potential related acquisitions.

In making the announcement, Mr. Smith said, "We believe there are additional growth opportunities to generate digital revenue by pushing into other areas besides selling spots in local markets, whether through content creation, partnerships or acquisitions. Rob has demonstrated his knowledge of emerging media technology and marketing strategies, and we feel confident in his ability to take our digital interactive platform to the next level."

"The integration of desk top, mobile and social content is completed within our station group, and we are ready to move to the next level of asset development, which involves adding content, enhancing the technologies and selling the platform in various ways," commented Mr. Weisbord. Mr. Weisbord has served as Vice President of New Media for Sinclair since 2010. From 2009 to 2010, he was Director of Digital Interactive Marketing. From 1997, he served in various management positions for the Company including Regional Group Manager, General Manager for the Company's Las Vegas duopoly of KVMY-TV and KVCW-TV, and Director of Sales. Prior to that and from 1993, he was National Sales Manager for WTVT-TV in Tampa. Mr. Weisbord began his broadcasting career in the radio industry with Family Group Broadcasting in 1985. Mr. Weisbord holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management and a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Tampa.
