Chris Neal

It is withgreatsadnessthatI write to youtodayregardingChrisNeal,Non-ExecutiveDirector, whohas passed away suddenly. Chris was a very valued member of our Board and the Sirius team and he will be greatly missed.

Chris had a very successful career in the City's ?nancial sector in London. Since 1998 he has been involved with a variety of SME ventures either as an active investor or consultant, also undertaking selective Non-Executive Director appointments.

Whilst Chris was certainly an active member of this Board, where he provided excellent counsel to fellow Board members and sta> alike, we would also like to pay tribute to his extensive work outside of his professional standing. Most notably, Chris was a determined advocate for driving innovations that could help society which included his work with the charity GB Job Clubs which he founded. Job Clubs help members build the self-esteem and optimism essential for job seeking and supports communities throughout the UK. Job Clubs subsequently joined award winning debt advice charity Christians Against Poverty.

Latterly, Chris had also been working on the establishment of a not-for-pro?t fund to provide 100% low interest mortgages to young ?rst-time buyers with the interest received then going to pay for social care for the elderly.

Chris was an accomplished rugby union club player for Harlequins, Bath, Askeans and his much-loved school alumni team, Trinity School, Croydon. Chris had a self-e>acing sense of humour and would joke that he played for various teams that needed a front-row forward at short notice.

In recent years Chris became an ultra-long distance indoor rower, often competing on an international basis and was also an aspiring Ocean Rower, with longer term plans to enter the transatlantic single handed competition to raise further funds for charity.

With much yet to achieve and many causes to drive-on and support in his inimitable way, with a determined diplomacy and gentle wit, he will be missed by many.
