Sun Hung Kai Properties and SmarTone support

Hong Kong's anti-pandemic work

Building a 5G network at full speed for 10 community isolation and treatment sites Providing free 5G Wi-Fi to healthcare workers and data cards to quarantined citizens

(Hong Kong, 2nd March 2022) - To help fight the fifth wave of the pandemic, Sun Hung Kai Properties Limited ("SHKP") has lent for free two sites in Tam Mei and San Tin, with a combined site area of 14 hectares, to the government to build temporary isolation and treatment facilities. Today, its subsidiary SmarTone announced that it would construct at full speed 5G networks at 10 community isolation and treatment sites to help quarantined citizens and healthcare workers in the facilities stay connected with their families and community, and provide powerful network support to frontline healthcare workers in their fight against the epidemic.

SmarTone will provide full support to quarantined citizens in community isolation and treatment facilities by lending them free data cards. SmarTone customers will receive for free additional local data and unlimited local voice calls to stay connected with their loved ones. SmarTone will also provide 5G Wi-Fi routers and a Wi-Fi network to frontline healthcare workers to help them carry out their anti-pandemic work efficiently and for them to enjoy seamless communication with the community through the use of the stable, high-speed SmarTone 5G network inside the community isolation and treatment sites.

Mr. Raymond Kwok, SHKP Chairman and Managing Director, said, "As part of our belief in Building Homes with Heart, in the past two years, we have rendered our full support to the government in the fight against the pandemic. After lending for free two sites with a combined site area of 14 hectares to the government to build temporary isolation and treatment facilities, SmarTone is now building 5G networks for the community isolation and treatment facilities at full speed. The quality SmarTone network can help quarantined citizens stay in touch with their families and friends round the clock, and healthcare workers stay well connected while they stand at the forefront in the fight against the pandemic. We believe that with the Central Government, the HKSAR government and the community working together, Hong Kong will surely be able to quickly overcome the fifth wave of the pandemic."

Mr. Norman Tam, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of SmarTone, said, "To uphold our value of "Building Networks with Heart", SmarTone is supporting the government and Hong Kong citizens in the fight against the pandemic. Through the provision of a 5G network at an estimated investment of HK$10 million, we can help quarantined citizens and frontline healthcare workers stay connected in 5G, whether they are SmarTone customers or not, and increase the efficiency of the anti-pandemic work. SmarTone's

vision is to build a world-class 5G network and we work closely with the HKSAR government to bring positive changes to Hong Kong."

Mr. Stephen Chau, Chief Technology Officer of SmarTone, said, "Our engineering team is now working around the clock, in tandem with the contractor currently constructing the isolation and treatment facilities in Tam Mei, Yuen Tong and San Tin. We will maintain close contact and expedite our 5G network construction to accommodate the completion timeline of the facilities."

Mr. Chau pointed out that SmarTone has already been in contact with the contractor of United Court, Yuen Long, to facilitate its link-up to the 5G network as soon as possible. It was just announced that United Court, which is being built on an SHKP site, will be converted to an isolation facility.

SmarTone has already begun constructing 5G infrastructure at full speed at the Tam Mei and San Tin sites, which includes building 5G base stations, antennas, fibre/microwave backhaul time, etc. Work at the two sites is expected to be completed in the next few weeks. SmarTone will continue to work with the government and relevant departments to accelerate the construction of 5G networks at the remaining sites, namely United Court and those in Fanling, Hung Shui Kiu, Kai Tak, Lok Ma Chau, Penny's Bay, Tsing Yi, and the Hong Kong Boundary Crossing Facilities Island of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge.

SHKP is committed to supporting the government's anti-pandemic efforts. In addition to lending for free two sites with a combined site area of 14 hectares for community isolation and treatment facilities, the Group will provide commercial premises as venues for community vaccination, donate materials worth more than HK$15 million to frontline anti- pandemic workers, the underprivileged and the group's employees, and arrange for the Group's hotels to take part in the Community Isolation Facility Hotel Scheme.
