Malakoff, 21 April 2022 - SPIE ICS, the French digital services subsidiary of the SPIE Group, the independent European leader in multi-technical services in the areas of energy and communications, has completed the migration of Sakata Vegetables Europe's IT system to the Microsoft Azure public cloud, while also strengthening its security policy.

Sakata Vegetables Europe is a subsidiary of the Japanese international group Sakata Seed Corporation, a world leader in the production and sale of vegetable and flower seeds. Based at the European headquarters in Uchaud (Gard), the Information Systems Division manages all of the company's IT systems for the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region. Based on the Group's approach to the streamlining of practices, Sakata Vegetables Europe has commissioned SPIE ICS to complete the migration of its digital infrastructures to the Azure cloud.

A technological challenge that is under control

Experts from SPIE ICS have built the data center infrastructure and migrated it to the Microsoft Azure cloud while minimising the impact on production and users. "The extensive engineering work carried out in advance, together with a series of switchover tests, made it possible to complete this operation in one weekend", explains Jean-Daniel Biglione, a business engineer at SPIE ICS. In total, dozens of virtual machines (VMs ) have been migrated to the Microsoft Azure cloud. SPIE ICS ensured the overall coordination of its experts involved in the security, infrastructure and network aspects in order to hit the planned migration milestones.

"Thanks to our expertise, we have deployed a more stable and secure platform for Sakata Vegetables Europe, while respecting all planning and budget constraints", states Christophe Monteil, project manager at SPIE ICS.

Comprehensive support

Sakata relies on the SPIE ICS Managed Services Centre, an expert in Microsoft technologies, for the maintenance and operation of its entire information system. SPIE ICS is on hand 24/7 to monitor the architectures hosted in the cloud and across its remote sites and to ensure they are maintained in operational condition (MOC ). In addition to this service, Sakata has entrusted SPIE ICS with part of the operation of its information system.
