Cergy, 5 October 2021 -The Industrie division of SPIE Industrie & Tertiaire, a French subsidiary of the SPIE group, the independent European leader in multi-technical services in the areas of energy and communications, is enhancing its expertise in complete stainless-steel boilermaking and industrial piping equipment for industrial processes involving liquids and pastes through the acquisition of Valorel - a major player based in the Rhône-Alpes region of France.

Turnkey piping and boilermaking solutions specifically for the pharmaceuticals and cosmetics market

Founded in 1971, Valorel is a company based in Chasse-sur-Rhône in Isère (Auvergne-Rhône Alpes), France, which generated turnover of €5 million in 2020. The acquisition of Valorel enables the Industrie division of SPIE Industrie & Tertiaire to provide turnkey process and utility services to its customers in the pharmaceuticals and cosmetics market and gives it a stronger foothold in that market, which is of strategic importance to the division.

With its 1,000 m² workshop and 24 highly qualified members of staff, Valorel is an expert in stainless-steel piping and boilermaking for clean utilities (e.g. water loops) and processes for liquids and pastes (reactors, storage tanks, skids, mobile tanks, etc.). Working in ultra-clean environments and sectors that are subject to high technical and regulatory restrictions, its teams were required to develop solutions that can be cleaned and sterilised on site.

Since 1971, the company has been developing a versatile range of services that integrates every stage of a unit's life cycle, i.e. design, production studies, manufacturing and assembly, on-site construction, commissioning and qualification. Valorel's teams also provide installation retrofitting and maintenance support.

"The expertise that Valorel brings to the pharmaceuticals and cosmetics market offers real potential for development in a rapidly growing sector supported by economic recovery plans and R&D[1] that has been reintegrated", stresses Industrie division Pharmaceuticals Sales Manager Cécile Paturel.

A synergy of expertise to create high value-added solutions that meet our customers' expectations

Valorel's piping and process equipment expertise complements that of SPIE's Industrie division in industrial IT and automation. The synergy of these skills makes it possible to provide turnkey solutions for comprehensive installation projects that have a single source of responsibility and which therefore meet our customers' needs.

"The Industrie division's own expertise in piping and industrial boilermaking will grow as a result of integrating Valorel's expertise. This will allow us to provide comprehensive services with high added value - especially for customers in the pharmaceuticals market, which represents a strategic market for us. The acquisition of Valorel will also help us to become more ubiquitous in the Rhône-Alpes region," states Frédéric Toussaint, Managing Director of SPIE Industrie & Tertiaire - division Industrie.

"Joining SPIE's Industrie division will allow us to continue providing services in the long term. Together, we will be able to meet our customers' needs for a global approach throughout their industrial cycle, from design, production and qualification to on-site maintenance", adds Jean-Paul Vaccalut, the son of Valorel's founder and the man who is selling the company.

The acquisition of Valorel comes three years after the acquisition of Siétar & Vti - specialists in industrial boilermaking and piping for liquid processes in the agrifood sector.
