The board of directors of St.Galler Kantonalbank have appointed Christian Schmid as chairman of the executive board (CEO) as of May 1, 2021. Since 2008, he has been Member of the Executive Board. He will succeed Roland Ledergerber. Long-standing connection to St.Galler Kantonalbank and the market area Dr. Christian Schmid has been Member of the Executive Board and Head of the Corporate Center of St.Galler Kantonalbank since August 2008. In this function, he is responsible for Business Development, Human Resources, Controlling & Finance, Legal & Compliance and the Risk Office. Prior to this, from 2004 to 2008, he was Managing Director of RSN Risk Solution Network AG, that he built up to the leading outsourcing platform for credit risk management in Switzerland. From 1999 to 2003, Christian Schmid already worked for St.Galler Kantonalbank in management positions in the business unit Retail and Commercial Clients. Before joining St.Galler Kantonalbank, he worked at the Swiss Institute of Banking and Finance at the University of St.Gallen. Christian Schmid grew up in Uzwil and lived in the city of St.Gallen for many years. For 10 years, he has lived in Rapperswil-Jona with his wife and three children. He studied at the University of St.Gallen and received his doctorate (Dr. oec. HSG) in 2003.
