NEW BRITAIN, Conn. (AP) _ Stanley Black & Decker Inc. (SWK) on Thursday reported second-quarter net income of $88 million.

The New Britain, Connecticut-based company said it had profit of 57 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, were $1.77 per share.

The results fell short of Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of six analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $2.12 per share.

The tool company posted revenue of $4.39 billion in the period, also missing Street forecasts. Six analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $4.77 billion.

Stanley Black & Decker expects full-year earnings in the range of $5 to $6 per share.
