Commencement of Commercial Operations at Kashima Solar Power Plant

Sumitomo Metal Mining Co., Ltd. (SMM) has constructed a solar power plant at a site it owns in Kashima City in Japan's Ibaraki Prefecture, and this power plant started commercial operations as of today, the August 1, 2016. All electricity generated shall be sold to the TEPCO Energy Partner, Inc. under the renewable energy feed-in tariff system. Please note that the start of commercial operations at this power plant will have only a slight impact on SMM's results.

SMM shall henceforth continue to pursue the effective utilization of the sites it owns, and contribute to creating a low-carbon society.

Output: 1,990 kW

Estimated generation capacity: 2.8 million kWh/year approx.
