Sun Hung Kai Properties Limited (SHKP) places great emphasis on nurturing talents and cares about its employees, and that caring spirit also extends to their family members. The SHKP Group Undergraduate Scholarship was set up to ease the financial burden of employees whose children are accepted for undergraduate study. Thirteen scholarships were awarded this year. The scholarship recipients are currently studying dentistry, occupational therapy, civil engineering, journalism and communication, accounting and other disciplines at The University of Hong Kong, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University and other local institutions.

SHKP Chairman and Managing Director Raymond Kwok recently conferred the scholarships and congratulated the recipients while sharing his learning and life experiences with them. He encouraged the young recipients to take advantage of the campus atmosphere to pursue knowledge and participate in extracurricular activities for broader exposure. He also hoped that students would give back to society by getting involved in volunteering activities while reminding them to stay physically fit. He said: 'It's important to have a healthy body and maintain regular hours with sufficient exercise. Also, love and communicate more with your family members, especially your parents.'

The scholarship recipients thanked SHKP for the care it has shown them and relieving their parents' financial burden so that they could assimilate into college life and widen their horizons worry-free. One of the latest recipients who studies Journalism and Communication at CUHK has aspired to become a journalist and wishes to help others by accurately reflecting the world around us through writing. She is thrilled to be able to get into the programme that she had longed for and make the leap forward to achieve her dream. She hopes to give back to society through her profession after graduation.

Established in 2010, the SHKP Group Undergraduate Scholarship has subsidized over 70 children of staff to attend university to date. Scholarship recipients have majored in: medicine, engineering, law, economics and finance, journalism, and other disciplines at The University of Hong Kong, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and other institutions.
