WILSONVILLE, Ore. (AP) _ Flir Systems Inc. (FLIR) on Thursday reported first-quarter profit of $38.8 million.

The Wilsonville, Oregon-based company said it had profit of 29 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring costs and amortization costs, were 49 cents per share.

The results fell short of Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of four analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 53 cents per share.

The imaging and surveillance systems company posted revenue of $467.3 million in the period.

Flir Systems shares have risen 34% since the beginning of the year, while the S&P's 500 index has risen 11%. The stock has risen 42% in the last 12 months.
