The Central and Eastern Europe Fund, Inc., The European Equity Fund, Inc. and The New Germany Fund, Inc. each announced that, in connection with the previously announced retirements of Mr. Christian Strenger and Dr. Christopher Pleister from each Fund?s Board, the Board of Directors has appointed Mr. Bernhard Koepp, Independent Director of each Fund, to succeed Mr. Christian Strenger as the Chairman of each Fund?s Board effective January 1, 2024, rather than Mr. Walter C. Dostmann, as previously announced. Mr. Dostmann will continue to serve as a Director for the Funds.
The European Equity Fund, Inc. (the Fund) is a diversified, closed-end management investment company. The Fund seeks long-term capital appreciation through investment primarily in equity and equity-linked securities of issuers domiciled in Europe. This Fund is diversified and primarily focuses its investments on equity securities of issuers domiciled in Europe, thereby increasing its vulnerability to developments in that region. It invests in various sectors, such as banks, beverages, building products, construction and engineering, insurance, media, information technology (IT) services, oil, gas and consumable fuels, pharmaceuticals, professional services, textiles, apparel and luxury goods, air freight and logistics, chemicals, diversified telecommunication services, semiconductors and semiconductor equipment, software, commercial services and supplies and others.
