In support of Senior Citizens Day on 19 November, The Hong Kong and China Gas Company Limited (Towngas) is introducing a special discount offer for elderly customers.

On 19 November, senior citizens aged 65 or above can visit any of the 19 Towngas Customer Centres located throughout Hong Kong (please refer to the attached list) to purchase gas appliances and household items. By presenting a valid senior citizen card, they will be entitled to a 10% discount on the regular prices. Additionally, gas appliance purchases will be eligible for a 10-month interest-free installment plan exclusively for the elderly customers.

Also, Towngas is dedicated to addressing the needs of elderly individuals with mild cognitive impairment. As part of its commitment, Towngas launched the 'Sending Warmth to Thousands with Smart Technology' donation programme at the end of last year to donate 10,000 sets of smart controllers and smart meters to eligible elderly households. These devices not only provide users with regular reminders about their appliance usage but also offer the convenience of remote emergency shut-off, enhancing home safety for seniors and alleviate the pressure on their carers.

Over the years, Towngas has been actively supporting the elderly community through various initiatives. Towngas introduced the Concession Scheme for the elderly in 1995, which provides eligible elderly customers with a 50% discount on their first 500 megajoules of gas consumption, waivers on security deposit, monthly initial charge and monthly maintenance charge, as well as free appliance maintenance service.
