The Taganrog Boiler-Making Works "Krasny Kotelshchik" (TKZ) completed the delivery of the pressure parts for TP-81 Steam Boiler at Irkutskaya CHPP-9 (included in En+). A high-pressure drum was the last to be sent to the power plant. It remains one of the largest boiler unit assemblies in spite of the fact that its inside diameter was decreased from 1 800 to 1 600 mm. Its wall thickness is maintained, and it is equal to 115 mm.

Total scope of TKZ's responsibilities included both supply of the boiler assemblies with a steam capacity of 420 t/h (water walls, superheaters, a drum, pipelines, a condensing plant, external cyclones) and design works referring to platforms and stairs & ladders of the boiler unit, insulation, skin casing, electrical equipment, lighting, C&I.

Extensive works have been carried out within the framework of a government programme on thermal power plants modernization as per capacities supply contracts. Upon completion of the heating season at Irkutskaya CHPP-9 replacement of the equipment with the expired operating life for Boiler Unit 6 with a new one will start. Its erection and adjustment supervision will be provided by TKZ specialists. The works will be performed under conditions of the operating power plant.

The technical decisions taken by the specialists of "Krasny Kotelshchik" will allow prolonging service life of the boiler unit and improving its reliability, which will have positive effect on the efficiency of the whole power plant. In its turn, TKZ enlarges its competences in the part of design & engineering works that are traditionally performed by the general designer.
