DENVER (AP) _ Western Union Co. (WU) on Wednesday reported second-quarter net income of $194 million.

On a per-share basis, the Denver-based company said it had net income of 50 cents. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring costs, came to 51 cents per share.

The results surpassed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of seven analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 41 cents per share.

The money transfer company posted revenue of $1.14 billion in the period, matching Street forecasts.

Western Union expects full-year earnings in the range of $1.75 to $1.85 per share.
