Union National Bank receives the distinguished Golden Award for quality from the Arab Administrative Development Organization member of the Arab League and Tatweej Academy for excellence and Quality in the Arab World. The award that includes a golden decoration and a certificate aims at highlighting the distinguished role of the Arab world organizations. The award ceremony was held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohamed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince and Head of Dubai Executive Council at Armani Hotel, Burj Khalifa, Dubai in the presence of representatives from various prominent institutions in the Arab world and high dignitaries. The nominees for the award included Arab leaders and prominent individuals as well as organizations that contributed through their initiatives and services to the development of the Arab community and enhanced the Arab skills in various fields. The nominated Arab organizations were also selected based on the excellence and quality awards they have received earlier from prominent rating and certifying associations. UNB was nominated based on its accomplishments in the financial sector and the awards and recognitions it has received. The Sheikh Khalifa Excellence Award (SKEA) received in 2002 was followed by SKEA Gold in 2005 and again in 2009, thereby becoming the only organization to have won the SKEA Gold twice. UNB is also a winner of the prestigious Dubai Quality Award in 2006 and 2009 as well as the MRM Business Award in 2009. UNB was the first bank of its size in the Middle East to be certified to ISO 9001 standards in 2002 for a complete range of banking services across the Head Office and Branches. The ISO 9001 certification was successfully renewed in 2005 and again in 2008 with enhanced scope. In 2010 UNB received the Bank of the Year award at the Arabian Business Achievements award. In addition, the UNB CEO received the CEO of the Year Award at the CEO Middle East Awards 2010, Banking Category. UNB also received the Superbrand Status in the UAE for the year 2011 and 2012, making it one of the select few organizations to achieve this distinction. In 2011 UNB has become the first commercial bank in the world to be certified by M/s Lloyd's Register Quality Assurance (LRQA) Ltd. to the Integrated Management System (IMS) comprising of three standards, ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001. UNB won the Best Savings product award for its "Everyday Interest Savings Account product at the 2011 Banker Middle East Product Awards ceremony. UNB also received "The Best Domestic Retail Bank" Award at the Banker Middle East Awards 2011.
