Amsterdam, 5 August 2021 - VEON Ltd. (NASDAQ and Euronext Amsterdam: VEON), a leading global provider of connectivity and internet services, announces that it has been named Best International Telecoms Services Partner at the CFI.co Global 2020 Awards.

The CFI.co Awards recognise individuals and organisations that contribute significantly to the convergence of economies and add value for all stakeholders. The awards programme aims to identify and reward excellence in order to inspire others to further improve their own performance.

VEON operates globally to connect and technologically empower its customers across nine markets spanning three continents, where it delivers best-in-class technologies and network infrastructure to provide customers in developing countries with connectivity. In awarding VEON, CFI.co singled out the company's ongoing work in helping communities and governments in these markets bridge the digital divide towards more inclusive prosperity.

'We are committed to connecting people across the wide range of our countries and giving them access to mobile services, which in the past for many have been out of reach', said VEON's Chief Executive Officer, Kaan Terzioğlu. 'Our ongoing focus is to deliver 4G for all, a priority we share with the governments we interact with. This approach has been particularly important during the pandemic where connectivity has been crucial.'

Judges at CFI.co also cited VEON's response to the pandemic where it rolled out country-specific plans, offering free access to emergency hotlines, healthcare websites and educational platforms. VEON has provided free data-roaming for stranded citizens and perks for frontline workers. It also contributed more than $3.5m in 2020 to support COVID-19 programmes.

'VEON delivers the highest quality telecommunications and digital services to over 200 million customers in nine fast-growing countries, enabling them to develop even more quickly and in a sustainable manner, which empowers the communities they serve', said Jason Agnew, CFI.co, Editor. 'Given outstanding and consistent levels of service, the Judges' Panel is delighted to award VEON with the title of Best International Telecoms Services Partner - Global 2020'.
