The results topped Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of nine analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $2.44 per share.

The oil and natural gas company posted revenue of $444.5 million in the period, also topping Street forecasts. Seven analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $441.6 million.

For the year, the company reported profit of $695.1 million, or $33.44 per share. Revenue was reported as $1.55 billion.
