DALLAS (AP) _ Zix Corp. (ZIXI) on Monday reported a loss of $2.4 million in its third quarter.

The Dallas-based company said it had a loss of 9 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for amortization costs and stock option expense, came to 10 cents per share.

The results fell short of Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of three analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 15 cents per share.

The e-mail encryption company posted revenue of $64.9 million in the period.
