Beiersdorf AG (BEI.XE) said Tuesday that first-quarter sales rose 6% on an organic basis and the company backed its guidance for the year.
The maker of Nivea skin cream said sales for the period were 1.95 billion euros ($2.18 billion) compared with EUR1.8 billion the year prior.
Bernstein analysts had expected sales to rise 3.6% on an organic basis.
Sales in the company's consumer business rose 6.8% to EUR1.6 billion. Sales in its adhesives unit tesa rose 2.2% to EUR349 million.
Beiersdorf confirmed its guidance for 2019.
