Announcement Regarding Completion of 168-hour Trial

Operation of No. 1 Generating Unit of

Guohua Indonesia Jawa-7 Independent Power Plant Project

The board of directors of China Shenhua Energy Company Limited and all its directors guarantee that, this announcement does not contain any false representation, misleading statement or material omission, and severally and jointly accept responsibility for the authenticity, accuracy and completeness of the contents of this announcement.

Recently, No. 1 Generating Unit of the Guohua Indonesia Jawa-7 Independent Power Plant Project of China Shenhua Energy Company Limited (the "Company") has successfully completed the 168-hour trial operation and been transferred to commercial operation.

No. 1 Generating Unit of the Guohua Indonesia Jawa-7 Independent Power Plant Project is currently the largest single-capacitycoal-fired generating unit constructed and put into operation overseas by the Company. During the trial operation, the No. 1 Generating Unit operated safely and steadily, and excelled in environmental indicators as its soot, sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxides emissions were considerably lower than local emission standards in concentration. The project involves the planned construction of 2×1,050MW power generating units. At present, the commissioning of No. 2 Generating Unit is in steady progressive.

Guohua Indonesia Jawa-7 Independent Power Plant Project is a significant move advocated by the Company for in-depth implementation of the "Belt and Road" initiative. The project is located at approximately 100 km northwest of Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia, adopts "Build-Own-Operate-Transfer (BOOT)" model, and should be transferred after 25 years since its production commencement.

Presently, the project is being operated by PT. Shenhua Guohua Pembangkitan Jawa Bali, 70% shares of which are held by the Company.
