During the scheduled refueling and maintenance outage, trained professionals replaced fuel in the reactor. They also inspected and upgraded hundreds of pipes, pumps, electrical components and other equipment. Hundreds of thousands work hours were performed.
ANO is a dual unit site, housing two nuclear reactors. Unit 2 continued operating during the Unit 1 refueling outage.
Refueling outages are necessary to fuel nuclear plants every 18 to 24 months, allowing safe and reliable electricity in a cost-effective manner. Refuels also provide an economic boost for local businesses and temporary housing providers.
