Constellation today awarded more than $450,000 in E2 Energy to Educate grants for student projects focusing on energy science, technology and education. The grant program is part of the commitment by Constellation, and parent company Exelon, to give back to the communities where they work and live and foster greater interest in STEM programs.

The 20 hands-on STEM projects awarded grants will reach more than 18,000 students, in grade 6 through college.

Selected projects include building and racing solar-powered cars, off-the-grid classrooms, summer camps exploring fuel cells and other energy topics, and game-based learning for STEM and energy concepts. For the complete list of winning projects from 14 different states and Washington, D.C., visit the E2 grants page.

“Energy innovation and STEM education are at the core of what we do every day,” said Jim McHugh, CEO of Constellation. “We are thrilled to support and celebrate this year’s E2 grant recipients who have showcased an incredible level of passion for STEM and a true commitment to developing the energy leaders of tomorrow.”

Since its inception in 2010, Constellation’s E2 grant program has provided more than $3.5 million in funding for 123 student projects that have enhanced the understanding of energy-related science and technology issues. Grant recipients are announced each year during American Education Week. To learn more about the program, visit the community section of Constellation.com.

Constellation’s focus on community aligns with its parent company, Exelon Corporation, named among the nation’s 50 most community-minded companies by Points of Light. Exelon companies, together with Constellation, contributed more than $52 million to nonprofits in 2017 supporting education, the environment, culture and arts and community development.
