IMC has harvested a record soybean crop

On October 21 IMC completed the harvesting of oilseeds (sunflower and soybean). The yield of both crops has exceeded last year's results and targets for 2016.

Achieved yield of soybean is 3.4 t/ha, which is a record in the history of the cultivation of soybean in IMC (+30% y-o-y), and much higher than the average yield of soybean in Ukraine (according to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, as of October 20, 2016 the average yield of soybean in Ukraine was 2.2 t/ha). IMC has harvested soybean from an area of 6.4 thousand hectares, total crop (in gross weight) amounted to 21.6 thousand tonnes.

Achieved yield of sunflower is 3.1 t/ha (+11% y-o-y), which is 40% higher than the average yield of sunflower in Ukraine (according to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, as of October 20, 2016 average sunflower yield in Ukraine was 2.2 t/ha). IMC has harvested sunflower from an area of over 25 thousand hectares, total crop (in gross weight) amounted to

78.9 thousand tonnes.

"The technological changes in the cultivation of soybean and sunflower which were laid by us year ago have resulted in high yields in 2016. This year soybean was solely sown with high- yielding varieties of the Austrian and Canadian selection. A change in tillage technology had also the positive effect on the yield of soybean and sunflower. In addition, our specialists have responded promptly to manifestations of fungal diseases of the crops caused by excess of rainfall in May and June, and have done an additional fungicide treatment of some area under soy and sunflower, which prevented the loss of the harvest. As a result, we have record yields of oilseeds in IMC in 2016", - commented on soybean and sunflower harvesting Vladislav Lavrinenko, Production Director of IMC.
