This month, multiple Alabama websites, built and hosted by Alabama Interactive, were recognized by two award competitions: The Center for Digital Government’s Government Experience Awards and the Web Marketing Awards. Both prestigious competitions judge and award websites that are not only improving but also innovating the way citizens interact with government online.

Alabama.gov and the official website of the Alabama Department of Conservation & Natural Resources, OutdoorAlabama.com received the Government Standard of Excellence award from the Web Marketing Award competition. This is the third award for Alabama.gov and the second for OutdoorAlabama.com in this competition. The websites received high scores from judges in the user accessibility and technology categories. Both websites offer a prominent and interactive search feature, which received praise from the judges. In addition to the search, both websites were ranked highly for ease of use, an increasing priority of citizens needing to access specific information in the fewest number of clicks.

Alabama.gov was also recognized as a finalist for the 2018 Government Experience Awards issued by the Center for Digital Government this month. Alabama was one of 10 states that were 2018 award recipients.
